Why I Came to DoiT and Why I Stay

Introduction

Hi, Everyone. My name is Dan Comer, and I am based in Tring, Hertfordshire, in the UK, but I originally grew up in Greater London. It is family life that keeps me entertained these days when away from work, as my wife and I have two young kids who enjoy nothing more than being out and about in The Chilterns or perusing any of the UK's many museums, testing our knowledge and pronunciation of dinosaurs.

Tell us about your journey to DoiT.My journey started actually before I joined when I had the opportunity to work with them during my time at Google Cloud. I was impressed by the Do’ers I met with during mutual customer engagements. They showed a real passion for FinOps and a desire to help customers deliver on migrations or net new build-outs. So, when the opportunity came to join them, I jumped at the chance. In many ways, the move enabled me to continue and develop the relationships I had built at Google whilst getting the chance to help DoiT operationalize and build out the Account Management function in the UKI across both our Google and Amazon businesses, respectively.

What does a day in your life look like?

A day in my work life first off centers around my team, of which there are 7. As we support a large number of clients whose needs and requests are constantly evolving, my no.1 priority is ensuring that these are met and delivered in a timely manner. As we are a remote company, I like to prioritize time to ensure we are outwardly working to deliver on our company's mission following the economic headwinds of the last few years. We want to help cloud-driven organizations understand and harness the cloud to drive business growth.

What is the culture of the Account Manager team?

Our culture is very entrepreneurial; the team works with clients across all industries, and that gives us a lot of opportunity to bring in the deep, technically rich, and diverse experience of our Staff Cloud Architects to help customers ideate and design solutions to their business requirements. We also like to have fun; with so much work being conducted via Meets for us in a week, it's so important to have time to catch up with colleagues and understand more about them as a person and what is going on in their daily lives.

What impact do Account Managers have at DoiT?

They really are the fabric intrinsic to ensuring we deliver upon what was positioned or ‘sold’ from the outset. One of our core values is to ‘wow the customer,’ and the Account Managers need to be able to do that day in and day out, as trust does not happen; it has to be earned over time. Their work directly impacts our reputation and success as a company.

What advice would you give to candidates interested in joining the Account Management team?
