Interview process

Six steps, roughly three weeks start to finish. Every interview is a video call — no surprise on-sites, no all-day marathons. We tell you what to expect at each stage, and we give feedback whether you get the offer or not.

Do

  • Be curious. Interviews are as much for you as for the company — asking thoughtful questions shows genuine interest.
  • Treat the process like a customer journey. Concise follow-up emails go a long way in showing your enthusiasm.
  • Stay structured. Your answers should have a start, middle, and end — emphasise the how, not just the why.

Avoid

  • Forgetting which role you applied for. If you're exploring multiple opportunities, keep track so you show up prepared.
  • Lengthy CV paragraphs. Lead with the most relevant info, bullet your achievements, and mirror keywords from the job description.
  • Brushing off failure stories. Failure is fine as long as you can show you analysed it and learned from it.

Do

  • Practise active listening — reusing language from the question in your response shows the interviewer you're engaged.
  • When interviewing with a cross-cultural team, be ready for different norms. Stay open and adaptable.
  • Create a personable connection that makes you memorable. A genuine smile often helps, when appropriate.

Avoid

  • Brushing off your weaknesses. Instead, show confidence in your ability to close the gaps.
  • Pulling all your rabbits out of a hat at once. Pick the most relevant examples and save the rest for later rounds.
  • Exhausting the interviewer with overly long answers. Keep it simple, with clear messaging.

Do

  • Stay curious — ask thoughtful questions that show you've done your homework on the role and team.
  • Share specific scenarios where you collaborated effectively and highlight what you personally brought to the table.
  • Be a good listener. Keep your answers concise, clear, and to the point — quality over quantity.

Avoid

  • Coming unprepared. Research the company, understand the role, and have thoughtful questions ready to go.
  • Faking it till you make it. It's perfectly okay not to know something — be humble and genuine about it.
  • Giving vague or generic answers. Be specific with your responses and back them up with real examples.

Do

  • Speak confidently about the things you know — own your expertise and let it come through naturally.
  • Research the company and team beforehand. Always come prepared with questions that show real curiosity.
  • Test your audio and video before the interview. Minimising technical hiccups lets you focus on the conversation.

Avoid

  • Ego — leave it at the door. Confidence is great, but arrogance will work against you.
  • Pretending to know something you don't. Own what you don't know and showcase your appetite to learn and grow.
  • Talking in circles. Be concise with your responses and make every word count.
1

Application review

A recruiter reviews your application within five business days. No black-hole inboxes — you'll hear back either way.

2

Recruiter screen

A 30-minute call to align on the role, your goals, and logistics like comp expectations and timeline. We'll share specifics about the team and product area.

3

Hiring manager interview

A 60-minute conversation focused on how you handle ambiguity, make trade-offs, and operate in past roles. Behavioral, not trivia.

4

Team panel

Meet 2–3 people you'd actually work with. For engineering roles: real-world technical scenarios, not LeetCode. For go-to-market roles: case-based discussions drawn from actual deals.

5

Leadership interview

A senior leader digs into your experience and how you think about impact at scale. This is also your chance to ask hard questions about where the company is heading.

6

Decision

The hiring team meets, makes a call, and you hear back within a week. Offers come with details. Rejections come with candid feedback you can actually use.

Tips for your interview

Prepare like you would for a peer conversation, not a test. Review the role description and think about the specific problems you've solved that are most relevant. Our technical interviews use production-like scenarios — brush up on system design and trade-off reasoning rather than algorithm puzzles.

Test your video setup beforehand. Ask us tough questions — the best interviews are the ones where both sides are evaluating fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

You'll typically hear from your recruiter within 72 hours once the hiring team has had a chance to debrief. We don't leave people hanging.

Technically yes, but we'd recommend focusing on the one role that best matches your background and interests. A targeted application is always stronger than a scattered one.

Absolutely. You can reapply for the same role down the line, or — based on the feedback we share — explore other positions that are a closer match. We'd also encourage picking up relevant certifications in the meantime to strengthen your next application.

Typically two to four weeks from first call to final decision. Some roles take a bit longer to make sure both sides have enough signal — if that happens, your recruiter will keep you updated every step of the way.

Reach out to your recruiter as soon as you know. We're flexible — life happens. In many cases we offer self-scheduling links, so you can pick a new time that works for you.

We love putting a face to the name, but it's optional for the initial screening call. For subsequent rounds you'll be expected on camera unless your recruiter tells you otherwise or you need an accommodation.

Contact your recruiter or email ta@doit.com and we'll take care of it. We're committed to making the process accessible for everyone.
