Why I Came to DoiT and Why I Stay

Introduction

Hi Everyone,My name is Nir Maayan, and I’m based in Israel. I live in a small place called Kibbutz Maabarot. I have four kids (two boys and two girls, ages 3, 6, 9, and 11). I have many hobbies (running, swimming, snowboarding, and rock climbing), but my main one is mountain biking, which I try to do a couple of times a week and ride some steep single tracks. As a family, we love to visit new places and hike around the country.

Tell us about your journey to DoiTI started working with Doit in January 2023. From my first interview, I liked what we were doing. My specialty is Finops, and I try to optimize customers' costs and reduce them while there is no impact on the customer performance.

Working with customers, learning new skills and gaining more knowledge is amazing and I like it a lot. For me, working with the top of the customers in the EMEA region, learning about their technology and challenges and finding the best solution for them.

What does a day in your life look like?

A regular day for me usually looks like this: In the morning, I work on customers' tickets and requests. Using DoiT’s tools to understand where the customer can improve and be more efficient. In the afternoon, I usually have some meetings with customers. During the meetings, I work with the customers about their upcoming projects and plans.

I also liked to be proactive and come to my customers with saving recommendations.

How does your work as a Technical Accounts Manager impact DoiT customers?

Technical Account Manager (TAM) is a pivotal role in DoiT. As a TAM, I accompany my customers on their long-term projects, become their trusted consultant, guide them through new technologies and projects, and help them build their architecture.

As a TAM, I really feel the value, and I can see the benefits that our customers gain. I enjoy seeing a customer save money and then invest it in a new project that I helped him to design.

Tell us about a time you truly felt supported by your team.The TAM team is distributed all across Europe, and both AWS and GCP provide a lot of services. No one can be an expert with all the services. Luckily, we have a variety of knowledge and skills, so we can support each other.

Part of being proactive is preparing for each meeting. If we have a topic that I don’t have enough knowledge of, I will make sure to bring an expert from my team or the engineering team. One example that comes to mind is EKS cost optimization; while I’m familiar with the basic concepts, I’m not familiar with all the tools that are available. I consulted with one of our CRE (Cloud Reliability Engineers) experts - Lukas Stiebellehner what can be done. Both of us met with the customer and we managed to optimize the customer usage.
