I'm Eduardo Mota, originally from Mexico but now calling the vibrant city of Vancouver, BC, home for the past 20 years. When I'm not architecting cloud data solutions, you'll find me exploring the world through my camera lens, engrossed in a captivating book, or planning my next adventure. I am particularly fond of capturing the breathtaking mountain vistas that surround us here in Vancouver. I'm also a lifelong learner, currently adding Italian and Mandarin to my linguistic repertoire - keeping my mind diverse is key!
Tell us about what led you to join DoiT!
My journey to DoiT was paved with a decade of experience in AI/ML and data processing, spanning roles from MLOps Engineer to DevOps Manager and even a stint as a TAM at AWS. This rich tapestry of experience ultimately led me to seek out the consulting world. The prospect of engaging with diverse clients and industries was incredibly appealing. DoiT, particularly, caught my eye due to the consistently positive feedback I encountered across various platforms.
The clincher came during my interviews with two Architect managers. Their professionalism and the palpable sense of a fun, relaxed, and trustworthy culture sealed the deal for me.
What impact does a Cloud Data Architect have at DoiT?
As a Sr. Cloud Data Architect, my primary mission is to empower our customers to harness the full potential of the cloud. My work encompasses a dynamic range of activities:
- Training and upskilling customers: Sharing knowledge and best practices to elevate their cloud proficiency.
- Reviewing and refining cloud implementations: Ensuring optimal performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
- Troubleshooting production issues: Providing timely and effective solutions to keep critical systems running smoothly.
- Thought leadership: Representing DoiT as a cloud authority through podcasts, blogs, technical events, and conferences.
Training and upskilling customers:

The diversity of projects I engage in is truly remarkable. From infrastructure optimization to solution demonstrations, every day presents new challenges and learning opportunities. However, the common thread is always clear: helping customers make the most of the cloud.
With the AI/ML landscape evolving at lightning speed, my expertise in data processing and machine learning has become increasingly valuable. I frequently consult with customers on everything from ideation to implementation and optimization of ML workloads. This hands-on experience allows me to stay at the forefront of cloud innovation, ensuring DoiT remains the go-to partner for those seeking to unlock the cloud's true potential.
How have you grown in your career here at DoiT?
My time at DoiT has been a journey of continuous learning and growth. I've honed crucial skills like public speaking, methodical problem-solving under pressure, and effective project management. Beyond the technical realm, I've gained a deeper appreciation for the business side of things, with a sharper focus on ROI evaluation and the factors that contribute to project success.
This growth has naturally led to exciting new responsibilities. I've spearheaded projects like Gen AI accelerators, enabling rapid deployment for our clients. Sharing knowledge is another passion, and I relish the opportunity to develop Immersion Days and mentor my team on Gen AI and ML.
My previous DevOps experience has provided a solid foundation, giving me a holistic view of the cloud ecosystem. Understanding how to compute, containers, and requests flow through cloud infrastructure is invaluable in my current role. It's also given me a practical perspective on optimizing and integrating AI/ML models.
The people skills I acquired as a manager have proven equally important. Navigating diverse personalities and situations has equipped me to build trust and rapport with our customers, fostering strong partnerships.
I'm proud of many accomplishments, but a few highlights include presenting GenAI topics at Google Next and the upcoming re: invent. Contributing to podcasts and blogs has been a fulfilling way to share my knowledge. Above all, guiding two clients from zero to production in the GenAI space, accelerating their journey, and delivering exceptional experiences stands out as a truly rewarding achievement.
Where can we find you outside of work?
While travel is a passion, with three kids, it can be challenging to jet off as often as I'd like. Still, recent trips to Puerto Vallarta and an upcoming Cancun adventure prove there's always a way to make it happen! You'll often find me engrossed in a good book when I'm not exploring the world. Currently, I'm delving into "The Coming Wave" by Mustafa Suleyman and the captivating "Shantaram" by Gregory David Roberts.
Despite my love for technology, I find balance through meditation, which I try to incorporate into my daily routine. And, of course, nothing beats quality time with my wife and kids.
